SEPTEMBER 27 2005 NEW RECORDING has been put up which will be featured on the KCDIY compilation to be released this December. Some technical difficulties have delayed the release of our custom A!A! decks, so we won’t have them ready for the WEDNESDAY NIGHT HEROES show, but look for them within a month!

ALSO, there’s a rad online skateshop run right out of Kansas City by a rockin old schooler who looks like your dad and rips up frontside grinds on the shitty part of the PV pool like it’s nothing. It’s called GENESIS SKATEBOARDING and they stock a good selection of old school shit. I’d recommend it since NO SHOP IN KC carries anything remotely old school… try to get wheels larger than 56mm or softer than 101a at a shop around here… try to get trackers or indys larger than 8” wide at a shop around here… try to get an Alva deck or set of grab/grind rails at a shop around here. Somethings got to change, but until the time of instant gratification comes where you can pick up decent supplies at a KC shop, check out the genesis site.

OH YEAH, for all you internet goons out there, we’ve got a myspace thingy now! Go and find it.

SEPTEMBER 6 2005 ALERT! ALERT! has finished up the recordings for the KC punk and thrash comp!!! we recorded BOARD TO DEATH and a new ripping tune called DO SOMETHING AWESOME (WE’RE GONNA SHRED!). Plans are bubbling up for a SPLIT 7” with Texas rippers and good friends A.N.S.! Also materials are on the way for CUSTOM A!A! DECKS! Not lame popsicles either, these will be custom cut painted and screened by US!

The WEDNESDAY NIGHT HEROES are coming to town on September 28th and A!A!, the BLACKOUTS, as well as CRAP CORPS will be shredding alongisde at El Torreon Ballroom.

CASSETTE KILL RECORDS along with BIG BROWN SHARK are putting the together a KC underground hardcore comp (you know, hardcore… like punk, not metalcore emo whatever) to be pressed on limited edition LPs. There will be a “benefit” type fundraiser show for this on JULY 9 at the MOMO with 8 to 10 bands ripping through 20 minute sets to give you an idea of the magnitude of the upcoming comp.

ALSO A!A! MAY BE PLAYING WITH I OBJECT ON JUNE 28 at the Haunted Kitchen in Lawrence, KS. We just need to double confirm with the new kid, Daniel!

FEBRUARY 28 2005 THE 7” HAS BEEN RECORDED!! A!A! just wrapped up an intense recording session with J. Ashley Miller. Now we can start playing more shows again since our days of full concentration on recording are over with. We’ve a lot of shows this March and we’d love to see you there!

FEBRUARY 21 2005 FOUR DAYS TIL A!A! GETS IN THE STUDIO! This coming Saturday and Sunday, ALERT! ALERT! will be recording 5 songs for the currently untitled 7” to be out this summer on CASSETTE KILL RECORDS.

FEBRUARY 14 2005 VALENTINE’S DAY. ALERT! ALERT! Loves the river half pipe! I just got back from shredding up some coping and grabbing gnarly airs at Kansas City’s new half pipe. It was built by Woody from Hardcore Sports (remember that place?) Anyways it’s the best ramp you’ll ever skate. The best part is it’s outside and totally free. KC paid for all the materials and Woody built it out of his own time and charity, so if you know who he is, tell him thanks. If you don’t know who he is, find out, find him, and thank him hardcore.

The sentiment I left on that ramp today is one of the most sincere ways I figured I could spend Valentine’s Day. It’s honest and true, so I really, really hope people don’t fuck It up with stupid ass graffiti pens and all that dumb stuff. It really means a lot to me, and it should mean just as much to you. So if you’re ever there and some douche bag is trying to cover it up, let him know how serious it is and tell him to peddle his wares elsewhere.

Check out the photos page for a few more shots of the thank you note. Let’s try to make it last. I love Kansas City.

FEBRUARY 6 2005 A!A! will be recording 5 songs for their upcoming 7” release on CASSETTE KILL RECORDS the last weekend of this month! All the songs have never before been released, though you’ll recognize most from the live set. We’re trying to keep things as DIY as possible, so pretty much everything except the vinyl itself will be made, printed and assembled by ALERT! ALERT! And their own 6 hands.

ALSO, flyers for upcoming shows have been posted on the shows page. Do what you want with those and be sure to check out the dates. There are some great bands coming through KC and Lawrence, and they’ll need all the support they can get.

FEBRUARY 5 2005 7 SECONDS, 7 SECONDS, 7 SECONDS! That’s right kids, ALERT! ALERT! Will be playing with one of the most amazing bands in hardcore this March. Hit up the shows page for all the details.

JANUARY 26 2005 ALRIGHT A FEW SHOWS HAVE BEEN ADDED and more are to come. What’s this? SWEDISH HARDCORE… TOPEKA PUNK FESTIVAL… fight your way through the ads with a broadsword and head on over to the shows page. (by the way I’m getting rid of those ads, I just need to learn how to some more things with this newfangled “computerobot” or whatever it is.)

JANUARY 20 2005 OLD PHOTOS ARE DOWN, NEW ONES ARE UP But we’ve only got three… If you have some photos of some killer A!A! thrashedness, email us and we’ll post them up there

JANUARY 17 2005 THE A!A! COMPUTER IS UP AND RUNNING AGAIN!!! So expect some hard-ass updates within the next few days. Well we just got home from a 10 day tour of the Midwest with Kansas Kids, KTP, and everything was just great. We skated absolutely every day at some amazing spots and parks. It makes me really want to put out a great skate spot/park guide so when any of you kids are going out of town, you’ll know where to rip it up!

THIS FEBRUARY ALERT! ALERT! Will be in the recording studio with J. Ashley Miller to record their latest 7” “Doctors are Thieves” It will have 3-5 never before recorded and perhaps a couple never before played live songs. We’ll keep you updated on the progress of that, but look for it out at the beginning of summer 2005 on CASSETTE KILL RECORDS.

BY NOW I’m sure you all know we are without our lead singer Jake Kaullen. We stuck a mic back by the kit for Duane and revamped some structures so don’t think we’re struggling because of it. Jake is doing well with what it is he’s doing and we wish him the best in his ventures.

NEW SHOWS duh?!?!?!!? I’ll just let you check out the shows page for those details.

Text Box: CASETTE KILL RECORDS Will be releasing a series of LIVE recorded cassette tapes from summer 2004. Many shows which took place at The Spitfire Club during that momentous summer were recorded from the board straight to tape on a low quality 4-track recorder. Most of these were recorded with the artists consent, and are not in any we intended as “bootlegs”.

A SERIES of compilation “Mix Tapes” will also be released in 2005 consisting of both live songs and demo studio tracks. These comps will feature local Kansas City Bands as well as bands from throughout the Midwest.

THIS SUMMER will mark Cassette Kill’s first Vinyl release with ALERT! ALERT!’s “Doctors are Thieves” 7 inch single. Following that will be a release from THE BLACKOUTS featuring some classic hits and never-before-heard tracks.
